A native of Waterford, Ireland, Annraoi de Paor is Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD). During his 43 years as a full-time academic in UCD and Salford, UK, he devoted himself to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research, mainly in Control Theory, Biomedical Engineering and Renewable Energy. He founded and directed a research laboratory at Ireland’s National Rehabilitation Hospital, devoted to developing Assistive Technology to enhance the quality of life for disabled people. Arising from that he co-founded UCD’s Centre for Disability Studies.

He is the author of An Illustrated Collection of Limericks for Engineers and the editor of A.L. Martin’s forthcoming Villain of Steam.
